It is Finished!!

Imagine me looking like a wild-haired Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein as you read that title, "It is Finished!!" We tidied up the odds and end of the room division. Why I chose this week, of all weeks, to do it, I'll never know. Denial of the fittest.
Even though they are settled in their rooms, I have all these piles of "undesirables" strewn about the house. You know, the kind of things you stuff into the back of the closet thinking, "I'll think about this later." But when you're moving stuff around,
they come out and now what the heck to you do with them? In my mind they're almost dirty. Unwanted little odd-ball things I'm too frugal to toss. I have bags and bags of odd pieces of batting, the stuff you stuff into other things to make them fluffy. It reminds me of a song. It's on the Burl Eves Christmas CD. Burl Eves was the guy who did the Rudolph movie and the one where Santa was a young boy. I think they were claymation. Elf spoofs them in its intro. Anyhow, there's a sad little song on there about the "Misfit" toys. My kids love this song. But it creeps me out. All those toys over the years I've stuffed into bags at the back of closets, their poor little faces crying out, "I'm sweet, love me too." Maybe that's why I can't throw junk away. It's the sad little voice saying, "Can't I be useful to you someday?" Whoa. I digress.

Princess' Room – The two of them have shared a room since she was born. When I asked Mr. M if he was excited, he said, Yes! But Princess was a bit sad. She said that she would be lonely (thus the reason I let her do my hair, scroll down).

Mr. M's- He was so super excited, he made a "Do Not Enter" sign.

My eyes are closed to visualize the pain away. I couldn't hardly complain when I tell her not to. I remember as a child begging my mom to let me do her hair. But she didn't like her head to be touched. I can understand better now why. Five kids, 10 hands clawing at you all day long. A girl's got to have some sacred ground.

Little C enjoyed the change immensely. It was v. exciting. Midway through Princess was lounging in her new room writing in one of her notepads, a favorite pastime. Little C went out and came back with his own pad and pen. He sat on the bed and started saying Princess' name and then "A, N, A, N, A, N..." I can't believe how much he catches on to! Here's a pic of Mr. M and C reading one of their fav books.

The rooms look great. I especially like Mr. M's touch of tiliting the laundary basket against the steps to his bed. Was that a mistake or a further fortification of his privacy?

Like the rooms. What a wonderful mom you are. Love the hair diagram. I think I got the sense of a lot of tugging and pulling going on.

You gotta love little girls--especially little girls with brushes and a hand full of "ponies." I too know what it's like to feel a tug of war going on with the hair follicles. Next, you need to have her paint your nails with a loud color, like bright green, AND wear it for the day (yup, and proudly display while running errands, etc.) so she can still admire her work after she gets home from school. Pure joy. P.S. I'm a Funny Farm addict--oops! I almost wrote "Nut Farm" Hee..hee...nope that would be what the East Coast Smiths are livin' in. ...hugs!
