This week we decorated "gingerbread" houses with friends ... so much fun! We did the sugar glue, which Crystal (a real, but fictious friend) has illustrated so nicely. I'll let her explain.

Every picture I took of Lil C had his hand like this ... he was obviously storing up for the winter. He continues to push a chair up to the village to feast whenever my attention is drawn elsewhere ... little chipmunk (I was going to say rodent, but I like him, so chipmunk is cuter).

I've been scrapbooking like MAD. A lot of the stuff are gifts, so no early peaking here. But here are a few layouts I worked up in between. I'm lovin' the paper cutting machine (the title possibilities are endless).

My Photoshop is not working since I updated to Leopard (boo!). I hate the corporate think tanks that dream up the ways to burden our checkbooks and complicate our lives ... it's a conspiracy! So Christmas cards this year were a bit more challenging, as were the gifts. I ended doing something along the lines of EDIT *Becky Higgins* instructions.
Made this darling apron for a 2 year old. So sad to see it go. Little C loved modeling it, but I don't want to encourage the female clothing/accessories obsession his sister has already bequeathed to him.

Darling C in his new uber cheap choo-choo sweater. He loves it.

Mr. M. My friend and I discussed last night over scrapbooking how the eldest boys in our families are entering the awkward (AKA nice for funny looking) stage of their childhood. Hair is messy by choice, clothing gets worn quickly, teeth are growing in at alarming sizes and rates compared to surrounding baby teeth, and the "smile" or grimace of a child who really doesn't know how to be cute anymore. Mr. M has always been so cute. But now I find myself skipping over pictures of him because of the awkwardness (I took several pictures of him looking like this ... it wasn't a bad moment, just the way he wanted to look).

I went through this faze. Mine started around 8 and ended at 18. I can only hope my children fare better.

Hey there Julia - I read your comments on Mique's blog about your calves being too muscular for boots & I HAD to laugh! Thanks! You gave me my gut-laugh for the day! I can barely stuff my calves into boots--and then only if they're stretch.
That apron! Those scrap-pages! I'm in fits--they're beautiful.
Oh, this is TOO good! I just saw you left a comment on my cracker houses!
noo noo noo noo, noo noo noo noo...(Twilight Zone music)
That does it. You're going on my sidebar. Hope you don't mind--but you really have no choice! :)
Hey there,
Long lost friend. I am sorry for the lack of comments as of late. I have been beyond busy. But I have still been checking in, just not commenting. I have so much to say on all your recent posts-
cute Christmas decor
yes C & A would make the best of buddies (I swear we are living parallel lives)
thanks for the nod to my 30 days blog & I agree with your good vs bad handmade gift idea (homemade undies?)
and lots from this post-
JJ is in the awkward stage (and has the a word which just ADDS so much to his awkwardness...he's always been awkward but at least was a cutie so he could pull it off....now what are we supposed to do?)
BUMMER on the ps thing- I do everything digital now! LOVE it.
Love the apron as well. I have a love/hate relationship with handmade gifts- I so love making/giving them but I also just hate the giving part; to let go of something you pour your soul into (that sounds terribly selfish doesn't it?).
To answer your q- yes, the banner I just made up. That's what I've been doing lately. I'm not a huge pattern fan. I kind of combine patterns. Or just figure things out. (your apron- I wanted a ruffled craft apron so I just winged it) It was easy and fun to make the banner...just felt. And I free handed the letters.
OH and one more thing- can you use your machine (whatever paper machine you were talking about) for fabric? Donna Downey does amazing fabric books with some kind of machine. I'd love to get my hands on whatever it is.
here's the link:

Oh and one one more thing thing-
I was wondering if the Crystal you mentioned (the real, fictious friend) was the same one I know. Yes indeedy. Small world.
Ok, officially longest comment ever.
Crystal: I'm honored to by on your sidebar, Crystal... but that means I'm putting you on mine, now that you are no longer fictitious :) another weird thing -- our sons share the same name (Mr. M) and when I was looking at your blog yesterday he was peaking over my shoulder and thought that it was so cool.
Miq: Love the long comment! I might have to design lift that banner ... I love it! Would fit right in with the red/white theme.
I looked at the site you pasted (Donna D) and could not find a direct reference to her machine. I know that my machine will cut fabric, I just have not tried it yet. I will experiment over the next couple of days and post my results. I absolutely love it (Elements from Klic-n-Kut). The only complaint I have it that it operates in Windows and I have a dickens of a time trying to get fonts loaded into it ... I always get some lame "not valid" error. It works fine in Mac, just not over there. I know you have a PC, any tips?? (The Leopard update that wiped out PS allowed me to split my harddrive, so I now have a MAC and a PC on the same computer ... too cool.)
Julia-
Dig the long reply to my comment. And you can "steal" any idea of mine you want- chances are I have "stolen" it from somewhere else and changed it to my liking.
If I remember correctly- the rectangles were 12x8...all you need is red, green, white felt and I used some of cord to hang it (nice stuff).
Let me know if you have any specific qs.
And it looks you and Crystal hit it off. Isn't the blog world wonderful?
