A perfect pairing

Friday night I shaved my legs, painted my toenails, put on some makeup and a cute outfit and went out with my sweetheart.  The kids got to go to grandma and grandpa's for DickDonalds and a slumber party.  It was a perfect evening.  Laughter and chatter over fondue to start.  A fun musical and ABBA music as the main course.  Then chance to sleep in as dessert.

Saturday morning we cleaned like banshees to impress our landlord.  He was coming over to renew our contract.  The stove was scrubbed.  I magic eraser-ed all of our dingy walls so they shone like the top of the Chrysler Building.  The grass was clipped;  front walk swept.   And every corner vacuumed.  In the end, DH said the landlord walked briskly in, looked at our shattered window (the neighbor broke it with a stone while doing yard work) slapped down the contract, said, "you very good tenants," and left.  DH was disappointed.  But I wasn't.  Nothing is better than knowing your house is clean inside and out.

Sunday we journeyed back to G and G's house to have dinner with a visiting  church authority.  We had pork loin cooked and doused with apricot preserves (for the last hour of cooking) and lime rice (1 c rice toasted in 2 T oil, cooked in 2 c broth with the juice and zest 1 lime, and 1/4 c dried currants for 20 minutes, 1/3 c toasted pine nuts added at end).  It was perfect together.

All in all, a nice weekend.  Next weekend: To the land of milk and honey to see my lil' sis graduate.

What did you do?
