The seconds just ticked by today, at a snail's pace. I did the usual routine. Up at 7. Breakfast for everyone. Tidy up breakfast and send school goers off to get ready. Check blogsville for updates. Dress C. Hound M and A. Pack lunches. Get dressed for gym. Off to gym ... etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
Today was even punctuated by a nice lunch with DH. We always talk about going out to lunch someday, but it came early, as in today. We went to this little dive called Squeeze Inn. Standing at the front door, I could have hit the grill with a watermelon seed. You had to order your food over the bar diners' heads from the front door. Seriously, a hungry large man could do a lot of damage in that place, trying to get to the food. The burgers were greasy and yummy and the fries, YUM! Salty and substantial. A good lunch date.
But yet, the time ticked by like sands through the hourglass. I saw my sister. We did homework. The kids rode bikes out front. Tacos for Tuesday. Yipee.
In the sluggish meantime, there were a few funny things I noticed.
C has taken to doing things all by himself. He wants to open the automatic door on the van, get in and close it, all by himself. He wants to pour his milk and put on the lid, all by himself.
He dispensed ketchup and napkins today at lunch, all by himself. If you try to persuade him otherwise or rush his bad little 2-year-old self, it will always end up in disaster (aka, object thrown, milk spilled, etc.). I also noticed today, how observant he is. We were sitting on the patio of the dive diner, enjoying our grease, when two ladies walked into the area, one saying, "on Tuesday ..." to her friend. C immediately repeated, "on Tuesday" and then continued to jabber. They thought it was funny. And I thought he was cute.
Miss A said to me in the bathtub tonight: "Wouldn't it be nice if there was a naked day at school? We could all just go in our underwear and nothing else."
To which I replied, "Usually that's the stuff of people's nightmares not daydreams."
"Oh," she said. "I think it would be nice."
I have to make a mental note to myself to somehow harness these random thoughts (and immodesty) before she hits puberty.
Mr. M came walking out of school with another one of his paper helmets. I never really know how to respond to it. I want to encourage his creativity, but at the same time, I can see that it scares some kids or makes him easy fodder for teasing. On the bright side, all of the girls on the street twitter about him and boss him around like they want to be his boss. So they must think he's cute. It's not just me.
Finally, despite my slow day, my FedEx guy was amazingly fast! I ordered these Chaco's just yesterday afternoon and they arrived tonight. Hello! I've never had such amazing service (Zappos if you're wondering). I've already got these puppies on, feelin' the Chaco hug. I became dedicated to these as a riverguide. Nothing, neither _ell nor highwater could rip those babies from my feet. Then I got all fashion conscience for a few years. Well, I'm sick of buy expensive flip flops only to last 1 year and have my arches fall flat. So I'll be wearing these this summer. May my feet swim in happiness.

Oh, I could seriously go for a Squeeze with Cheese (LOVE that place). You keep making this pregnant girl hungry...stop!
Yea for seconds! (Maybe seconds are what is hindering my post-baby weight loss.) Obviously I am a blog addict ... I am so happy you decided to post twice today and feed my addiction to your wonderful posts.
I used to live right around the corner from the Squeeze (for 6 years) and STILL have never been there. I've heard all kinds of grand things about their greasy goodness. What is my problem?
Those sandals are VERY cute. I may need some. I love comfy sandals, but so far have stuck to Birkenstocks and Reefs.
Chacos are the best. I finally sold one of my pairs. I have gone through many pairs of them. They were the only thing I wore during the summer at work while backpacking. Who said you can't backpack in sandals:-).

Gulp.
I actually used the following in my comment: "ya," "totally gonna."
I'm going to blame my 14-yr old girl verbage on the late hour.
