Smash Hit

"We're going to play at the Y-M-C-A," my kids sang yesterday morning as I signed the paperwork to join the fabled center. Here in our new area the Y is one of the only gym offerings. It's been 9 months since I've been to the gym. And my butts are feeling it.

So it was with particular excitement that I took all four kids with me yesterday to start our new habit. The result? Three very happy children, 1 happy mom and 1 very angry baby. Honey did not like being left at the daycare. Not. at. all. About 12 minutes into my workout I heard, "Will Julia Smith come to the child watch? Julia Smith to the child watch." (the last announcement was not a request) Lovely. When I walked down the stairs I could hear him before I even got into the hallway. According to Little C, Honey was doing just find until and older baby kicked him, which set off the never-ending wailing.

I'm not sure if the kid intentionally kicked him or if he merely stumbled upon Honey due to lack of space. Because the place was crawling with babies. Apparently I brought my 4 children during the very popular Zumba class, which, when I peeked into the class, looked like 60+ women sashaying back and forth to Latin music. If each woman brought her 3.5 children to the gym (the average size of a family here) then you do the math. The child watch looked like Santa's workshop, minus the pointy ears and festive costuming.

Despite the set back, we will try and try again. Because, like I said, my backside has multiplied and it's time to whip it back into shape. You'll find me at the ...

P.S. Prediction: You'll have the song stuck in your head all day long.

Hahahaha

That was a great post. As soon as I read "buttS" I was thinking of another post of yours... "this one is for you, second butt" hahaha

That was pretty brave of you to take BH to the playcare. If it is another propehesy of what Em will do b/c BH is doing it, she should be happy with other people any second now (BTW she is crawling now!)

Go Julia! Glad you found a gym so you can get some "me" time and feel good about yourself. I miss you! Oh, and about the baby advice for sleeping through the night. Haven't we seen this post before? Maybe you should go back and read your previous post. :) My advice is to be done nursing or give a bottle at night. Always worked for my kids no matter what age I stopped nursing. AND send in dad now that he isn't on call through the night right? They always go back to bed for dad way better!

Julia- I am right there with you. We got to the YMCa every day and with people ahving 3.5 children here too (and mostly LDS) moms who go :o) wehave one busy nursery. All my babies put up a fuss at first, but I keep going. It is my only sanity :o) And it keeps my kids busy and away for tv for as long as it lasts. Oh and the Zoomba class is fun. We just started one here and I like it. Here is to Honey being better next time! Courtney
