Culinary Delights

Snickles are Starbursts.  Weird, uh?  I have no idea where it came from, though it might have been a combination of Skittles and tickles?

You've heard of yogurt-covered pretzels.  But have you ever heard of or tried yogurt-covered Dino Buddies?  A delicacy to be sure.  Well, maybe not.  But a breakthrough?  Yes!  DH jokingly said this week that if we were ever going to get Honey to eat any protein we'd have to cover it in yogurt.  The following day I was feeding the kids lunch, which happened to be Dino Buddies.  And a little light went on.  I'd already tried it with ketchup.  Denied.  We'd tried bribery with grapes or marshmallows.  Suckers.  What did I have to lose if I rolled it around in a little Go-Gurt and popped it in Honey's mouth.  The result?  He liked!  Mikey, he liked it!!

Speaking of strange edibles, have you ever had Snickles?  I bet you have.  You just didn't know they were called Snickles by a very prococious 3 year old.  Can anyone guess what a Snickle is?

This very child has entered the "Let's Make A Deal" phase of development.  He thinks that anything is up for negotiation.  Like the other night when he told me that he was done with his dinner.

Me:  But you didn't even touch your peas.

Little C:  I don't like peas.  I've told you that before.

Me:  I'm sorry.  But you have to eat 4 bites of peas before you get down, since you're almost 4.

Little C:  (staring hard at my face) How 'bout (dramatic pause) 6?!?  (another pause)  Is that kinda like 3?

Bonus:  I'll send a bag of Snickles to whoever can guess what they are.

Sadly, I thought a lot about this. I pondered and pondered. Had I ever HEARD Little C ask for Snickles? No. So then I thought, Skittles, but then I thought I don't see you as a Skittles person, so would you ever get them for your children? I know I wouldn't. Because I'd never be tempted to eat them. And we all know a mother needs a "bite" of whatever her child has. Then I thought Snickers. But that doesn't come in a bag. And I came up with nothing else. So I did a Google search for "snickles" (sad, yes, I know) and they result was some generic recipe for Snickers. But Bri said Snickers, so I'd be out of the running. So I asked Lane. He says to go with starkles. So I'm saying: STARKLES. If I'm wrong, perhaps you still take pity on my crazy, starved brain and send me some. Maybe not. Heaven knows I don't need it. (It's been a bad week = We need to talk.)
