First year of preschool: Incredibly wonderful for Little C. He loved every day of it and never once wasn't excited to go. We had regular struggles on what was on his mind to bring to the Sharing Table. Usually it was candy, which often got a firm motherly "no." On the last day, for his favorite thing to share, he brought bubbles. We all loved the book that Miss Alisha put together of his year. My favorite? The white ink blots in which he saw "two kissing angels." Love that kid.
First real leg injury: After 20 years of running, I've been sidelined with what I'm 90% certain is a stress fracture. I'm so, so bummed about it. But I know that things could be much much worse, as it is for one acquaintance here who is an amazingly athletic mom now sidelined with cancer. So I'm hopeful that after the 6 weeks of running that I'm taking off that it will be healed. Now I'm filling my time with spinning and other activities that don't hurt.
First season of real baseball: Mr. M played at what I felt was a really competitve level of baseball this year. And since it was only his second year playing, he had and still has a lot to learn. Despite some bad interactions with a certain coach that constantly singled him out, he got better at hitting and is enthusiastic about playing next year. I'm really happy that he didn't want to quit, because he's had that tendency in the past when things got rough. There's nothing better/worse than watching your son at the plate to hit. I had a hard time forcing myself to go to games, it made me so nervous. But it was thrilling to watch him hit several doubles and then steal his way home. Way to go Bud!
First major home project: Still working on the garden boxes. The never ending project, honestly. I wish that I had a camera to make a step-by-step instruction post on the pit falls of doing something like this on your own.
First best buddy: Honey has found a best friend in Ports. I need to get their reaction at seeing each other on camera. It is the warmiest heart thing ever. Tonight we noticed them sitting together by the bookshelf, side by side, looking at books together. Awww. Seriously love that family. They are our family away from family.
First spray-on tan: And I look like an Oompa Loompa's cousin. But the cruise is just days away and I preferred that over a cousin to the Great White Whale.
