But alas, the nurseries were sold out of the varieties I wanted and he was indifferent. So instead of compromise, we decided to try to find what we wanted.
And then I spied a Purple Fountain Beech. So beautiful. So colorful. So graceful. All the things I wish I were, but am just not. I want that tree. I want to put in between the dogwood and the maple in the smallish gap were I can see a portion of the neighbors' house I'm trying to pretend doesn't exist (but like a strange growth keeps calling attention to itself).
We went to two nurseries. We got lunch. Honey ate fries, candy corn and an orange slubber. So, by my count, he's had 3 of his 5 required fruits and vegetables. Well, 2 1/2. Because he spilled the orange slubber all over his lap when he was "dun."
As Heimlich says, "Oooh, candy corn! I must be in Heimlich heaven."

I want to go shopping in the middle of the day with my husband!
Ah, the Great Fruit Tree debate. Lane and I are in the middle of that one. Thankfully, it's put on hold as you, apparently, don't plant the trees here until after the freeze (feb or march). I assume we'll take it up then. As for Honey's lunch, that's what I want. Well, at least the candy corn. Mmmm.
