I guess I need to be better about posting on here (thanks for the nudge G;ma). Sometimes I feel like there's 2 people in this world who might read this blog on any given day and the dishes/laundry/diapering/life screams louder for my attention than it does.
So what have we been up to? Well, I've been running a lot. My marathon is in 3 weeks! It's required much more discipline and physical exertion than my last one almost 10 years ago. And several trips to physical therapy. I've promised DH that this will be the last full one. But I'm sure that I will find plenty of other races to fill my time. Like the one I just signed on to do in June: the Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay! So excited. And a tad insane.
I've been painting a lot. Nothing exciting like oil on canvas (which I would love to do correctly and try to be a little more like my amazing artist grandfather). But walls, in rooms. It started with Mr. M's room. Which was done a while ago. That led to doing the former craft room for Honey, who was in the giant bonus room by himself. I'll post pictures of that one I get the curtains sewn and hung. And then we finally finished the odds and ends in Miss A's room. Yay! All bedrooms upstairs are painted. And that's where I draw the line. Any other painting must be done by paid professionals (because I'm truly an impatient and sloppy painter as my university oil painting professor told me so long ago).
Sewing as made it into my routine of late. I'm almost done with a quilt top. I was a little disappointed in how it turned out and was all ready to pick it apart and start over OR make a fraternal twin to its madness. But I stopped myself. I have other projects to do that wouldn't simultaneously drive me and my husband mad.
And reading. I love to read. Every day I try to. I read a great non-fiction book called "The Naked Lady Who Stood on Her Head." Written by a psychiatrist about his most bizarre patients. Then I read "Franklin and Eleanor: An Extraordinary Marriage." Now I'm reading the Hunger Games series again. Mr. M is reading them (he's on the second). So I wanted to read them too so we talk about them if he wanted to. Next on my list to read is A Strange Stirring, a book about how the book The Feminine Mystique changed a generation of women and beyond.
So that's that. Now you need to update your blogs more regularly so I check in and see what's up with you!

I certainly hope you included me in on the two people you feel read your blog. Because (how devoted am I?) this recent update hasn't even popped up on my blog roll, yet I checked ANYWAY, just to see, and I was rewarded. As a side note, I've known you for 30 years, I talk to you everyday, yet I just learned 4 things about you/your going-ons that I had no idea about. Talk about an informational writer!
And you need to include me as the other of the two (although we all know there are many more). I love to hear what you are up to. You and Rachel are so interesting and fun to read--and between the two of you, I see a little of my old self! So keep writing, you never know how many people you inspire.
I echo each of those comments. I love to see my children grow and develop into wonderful human beings. I don't post much, but be assured, I am always there. Congratulations on the marathon, but don't push yourself. By the way I loved your St. Patrick's Day post. It made me smile. If you would like to read some historical books on WWII let me know.
Dad
Wow!! Marathon!!! Good luck! I'd love to see pics of all the painted rooms. Sounds like you have been busy!
I know a girl who knows a guy who knows the guy that started the Ragnar Relay. Am I famous? Rich, Beck's husband is good friends with him.
Aunt Laura, you're famous in your own right!
Julia!
Wow training for a marathon and reading everyday... You are my hero!! :)
We will be in Utah the first couple of weeks in July. Any chance you might be heading down around then???
