Perfect Boy

C had his 2-year checkup yesterday.  No shots.  Just chatting (on my part) and hiding (on his part).  He is a perfect toddler, according to the doctor.  Questions asked and answered to provide the diagnosis were run-of-the-mill variety: does he point?  is he using 2 words together?  does he use a cup?

But there were a few things Dr. O didn't ask that I think indicate he's well on his way into childhood as a happy, precocious boy.  Here are my hypothetical answers to unsaid questions:

Yes, he can burp or fart and laugh like he's just made a funny joke.

Yes, he can climb any piece of furniture with speed and ease.  His favorite: the kitchen table.

Yes, he loves to run away from me in a parking lot.

Yes, he refuses to be buckled in a baby seat when the rest of the occupants are in the more inviting strapy kind.

Yes, he has become the jealous boyfriend when it comes to sharing toys.

Yes, he loves to undress himself and run free.

Yes, he becomes the clingy best friend when it comes to saying goodnight.

And yes, he refuses good, healthy food and demands sugary, sweet delights.

So, all in all, based upon my experience, we're leaving babyhood and entering the delightful land of discovery and independence.

A moment of silence for the sad mama.

Yes, why don't you ask DH why they don't ask THOSE questions? They would be more accurate in assessing toddler age and ability! We have recently entered that stage with Search as well. It's delightful.

I can honestly answer "yes" to all these questions for mySELF, too!

Crystal that's scary!!
Good job on getting him to this very fun independent stage.....yikes, bring on the twos. I have a couple of months left (though Drew thinks he's 10 so maybe he'll just skip the terrible twos all together).
Hey, I found this blog:

I thought you would be able to relate to all these girls. Have you seen it before? They are from all over and have hubbies in residency. Check it out.
