For the Record

Crawls like a 9 month old.
Talks like a 10 month old.
Pulls to stand like a 11 month old.
Wears size 12 months.
Has more teeth than a 18 month old (7 and counting).
Eats like a 4 month old.
Sleeps like a 2 month old.

He's 8 months old. What's wrong with this picture?

Nothing, actually. Honey is perfect. Though I wish he would sleep for longer than 4 hours at night and start eating baby food, I'm enjoying every minute of him. But I'm doubly loving the happy moments. He's been crawling for about 2 weeks now. I love being in a room and hear his little hands slapping on the hardwood floor and then see his toothy grin poke around the corner. And even though he's waking me up way more than I'd like, I'm addicted to the cuddle and kiss I get when I go in his room and pull him out of his cage. I mean crib. He wraps his little arms around my neck, burying his hands in my hair and gives a big wet slobber on my chin. Then he lays his head on my shoulder and leaves it there like he wants me to hold him all night long. It's hard not to want to, too.

Mealtimes aren't his favorite. He'll eat an apple, but spurn applesauce. He'll gnaw on a carrot but spit out the carrot puree. He detests rice mush. Crumbles bread. Clamp his mouth shut for anything pulverized. Puff puffs are our salvation. He'll shove fistfulls of those in his mouth. Bless the Gerber people for creating those. But Saturday I discovered a new love ... farmer's market Kettle Korn. I know it's probably terrible for him. But he l-l-loved it! I took off the kernel bit and he's gobble up the soft part of the popcorn. This kid is a hoot.

Oh, and my favorite development? I'm convinced he's found his first word. A first in the history of our family: Mama. Serisouly people. It brought tears to my eyes to realize he was saying mama to me. And just to me. I could listen to that sweet sound all day long. He's said "da" and few times, but more in play. He's the first baby to say mama first and not dada. I think it's a sign.

Hooray for Mama! The best sound in the world issuing forth (right by the laugh) from baby's lips. Maybe while you're here, we can get Elliot and Honey on the same schedule so we nurse together. Of course, (fingers crossed, knock on wood) Elliot slept 5 hours straight the last two nights.

So M is convinced that Eme says Mama too! A few times she has said it with arms out when M holds her and passes me by.

I sure wish she could crawl this gigantic body from one toy to the next... no luck. Barely a rock on the knees here.

7 teeth!? I thought we were going places with our 4. Good luck with eating. Such a hard one for sure.

Sarina wouldn't eat baby food either. My doc said just to feed her off my plate and she'd smack on it until it got soft and then swallow it. She loved it. I don't think I'll ever go back to baby food only. It's so much easier to feed them whatever I'm eating (within reason). However, the baby food option is nice for on-the-go.

I am EXTREMELY happy to see you blogging again- I look forward to your posts. My little guy is about the same on the sleeping, some nights he is awesome, some nights I think he was just born.
