It's Late

I expedited this day.  There were so many things to do and go to in such a small window of time, that I just made it more efficient.  I assigned DH the task of finding a cooking surface for tomorrow's ward party.  I hired a babysitter to run errands.  I've NEVER done that.  And I went got two shades darker in two shakes of lamb's tail at 10:30 p.m.  Who has time to lay out nowadays anyways?  I'd rather smell like rancid Crisco.

Tomorrow will be expedited as well.  Clean house: two hours.  Run errands: 1 hour.  Play with children at waterpark and soak up their happiness: 3 hours.  Shower and get ready: 1 hour.  Ward party setup and execution: 4 hours.  Pack and clean up: 2 hours.  Will it all add up?  Who knows.

I realized tonight while I'm gone it's possible that Honey will start making sense.  Because right now he speaks with such purpose and conviction I know he must on the verge of connection speech with clear meaning.  I would be really, really sad if I missed it.  As my last baby, this is the first time with him I've felt a pang.  The only clear thing he says right now is, "Done, mom."  Everything else is grunts and hand gestures.

Missy is up there right now playing her goodnight music.  I wonder why she's awake.  Maybe the babysitter let her watch Scooby Doo while I was gone.  And now she's worried about the old man in the ghost costume.

Which book should I take while I'm gone?  The last Twilight (which I never read and I'm only mildly curious to read in more of "observing the forces of society" type of way) or a Thousand Splendid Suns, which I heard was good or another one you would recommend?  Because I have about 12 hours of silent on a plane to fill and the latest People isn't going to get me far.

P.S. ONe of my fears realized: Little C threw up all night long.  Sweet.  This makes leaving a piece of cake (really, not really).

I still have yet to finish the last Twilight book. I started it before Miranda was born and now over a year later I still only get a few pages done before I fall asleep!
If you're still interested in a photoshoot, let me know so I can book a time for you! Have a FANTASTIC cruise and enjoy your kid-free time!

I am not sure what kind of book you are into, but I had heard over and over that The Hunger Games was a good book (really easy read) so I took it on a trip with me and I could not put it down. Such an interesting concept. I had to buy the second book the next day and then pace myself so I had something to read on the flight home.

Don't read the last twilight book. It's, um, you know. Like the other ones. (See the movie instead.) A thousand splendid suns is good, but kind of punishing for a vacation. My vote: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. You'll ADORE it. Or the Imperfectionists, by Tom Rachman, which is also genius.
Have fun and find your camera, darling!

Have so much fun! I second the vote for Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Such a good book. The Help is another good read. Yes, where is that camera?

I loved the Guernsey Literary... potatoes... cute book. Also, i'm on a Juliet Marillier kick - her book "daughter of the forest" is a great fairy tale retelling with some fun twists. Have so much fun on your cruise!!!
