Gratitude #2

Honey was in fine form yesterday.  Just as DH was saying to me, "I was thinking today, since Honey's our last child, I'm going to miss having a toddler around the house ..." at which point Honey did something like climb on the table and kick everyone's dinner plates into their faces.  Okay, he didn't really do that.  But it was something terrible that my mind has erased.  But enough for me to say back, "That's funny.  Just today I was thinking that I can't wait to have no toddler in the house."

That's not completely true.  I will miss some things.  Like his little words, which I am grateful I still get to enjoy every day.

"Me":  Come sit with me and watch this show.
"Mere":  Come here, I need your help.
"Bacon": His trusty and beloved blanket.
"Tag": The tag he likes to hold going to sleep on said blanket.
"No. Gup": I'm climbing this stool, bookcase, piano, etc. to wherever it takes me so get out of my way."
"No-Man": The snowman we built and whose innards (rocks, dirt and old leaves) are now spilled all over our patio where he stood.  Ewww.  Honey still looks out the blinds each morning to check on him.
"Elmo's World": Any show on TV or computer he wants to watch.
"Walk": What he screams through every store we go to now.
"Butter": Peanut butter, which he'll eat on almost any cracker or fruit.
"Dough": McDonalds.  He's my first kid that doesn't call it "DickDonalds" (wipe a tear, sniff, sniff).

I'll also miss his sighs and adult-like sounds of frustration, "aurrgh" or "GOSH!" that come whenever he's met with an obstacle or he hears me make a similar sound.

Though he's far from a barrel of laughs right now, he does still make me smile every day.

That's precious. And now I've resolved (again) to enjoy my two toddlers more. Yes, Elliot is like Godzilla around here, but he is cute with his "tanks" whenever you give him something. I can't wait to see your little boy! Only 3 more months (or so. or is it 4?)! Oh, I miss your children. And you. I miss you a lot.

I think what I will miss the most is how much they love their mommy and always want you. Then they get older and don't need/want you as much. :(
